Let me set the scene: It was 12:29 am, and being winter break, I knew I wasn’t about to go to sleep anytime near that and then all of a sudden it hit me- I have to write a New Year’s blog! I wracked my brain, desperately searching for something to share with you this New Year’s. I poked and prodded through Pinterest, Google, the good ole bookshelf, and what was the verdict? Nothing. NOTHING!
I was having blogger’s block and if you’ve never had it, I’ll describe it to you. All of a sudden, terrifying thoughts begin to enter your brain. What if you never think of anything again? What if this was the most influential post you will ever write and all of your followers/readers lose all hope because you didn’t write it and then mass hysteria breaks out and everybody has to start living underwater and Middle Earth becomes real and we have to LIVE THROUGH the Battle of the Five Armies and then Sherlock will never ever come on again and then we all die ALL BECAUSE YOU DIDN’T POST A NEW YEAR’S BLOG.
So that’s it….in a nutshell. 😀
But really though, I was couldn’t find a thing. And that’s when my handy dandy Verse of the Day app sent me my verse of the day and I think I literally squealed with excitement.
So here it is, and as you read it, I hope that if you don’t know, or do know, Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, that your top New Year’s resolution is to find out what it really means to give your life to him- to become a new creation. And that’s one resolution I promise you could actually fulfill. Happy New Year’s!
2 Corinthians 5:17-19
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
Jesus can make all things new. He says of the lukewarm church: “Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked—I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” Hear His voice today, and open the door.
